Carp rods

The story of RodBuilderMate carp rods begins in 2018.
Until then, I had only been building spinning and casting rods. But when I visited the Hungarian Carp Show in November that year — the country’s biggest fishing expo — I saw thousands of anglers running for carp tackle, and I knew I needed to create carp rods.
Not just ordinary carp rods, but rods totally different from anything on the market.

My inspiration came from lure fishing. One day, while bass fishing, I used a 7-foot (213.5 cm) spinning rod (21 g) with 0.25 mm mono on a 4000 reel.
I tied on a 40 g weight — and was shocked at how far it flew.
Later, when I changed the stripper guide from 20 mm to 25 mm, my distance became worse, not better.
That discovery — how guide sizing affects casting — became the trigger for my carp rod journey.

I invested heavily with my manufacturer to create a completely new carp blank, because what I saw in shops was not acceptable:
stiff rods with too few, oversized guides, and thin-wall tips with big hollow sections that made them fragile.
These rods could cast far in tournaments, but they lacked precision and fishability.
I wanted something else: rods that could cast extreme distances AND still fight fish with a progressive, controlled bend.

The result? Carp rods with:
- Unique blanks with reinforced tip sections, avoiding the “dead spots” and stiffness of factory rods
- A progressive bend all the way to the butt for real fishability
- An innovative 9+1 guide layout, developed as the “big brother” of my spinning rods, optimized specifically for 14,000-size carp reels
- A joint-protection system: placing a guide directly on the joint removes the weak point where most rods eventually fail
- Perfectly tuned stripper guide distance from the reel seat, maximizing both casting length and accuracy without overloading the blank

These rods are not designed for stiffness contests — they are designed for real carp fishing, where precision, control, and fish safety matter as much as distance.
And yes — they can even handle spombs without breaking.
